MILWAUKEE, WI, March 01, 2018 /24-7PressRelease/ — Heartland Advisors has earned a “Top Guns” designation for the fourth quarter of 2017 by Informa Investment Solutions based on the performance of the firm’s Mid Cap Value Strategy. Informa compiles the PSN manager database, North America’s longest running database of investment managers.

To qualify for the Top Guns of the Decade award, an investment vehicle must have an R-Squared of 0.80 or greater relative to the style benchmark for the latest 10-year period. Moreover, products must have returns greater than the style benchmark for the latest 10-year period and also Standard Deviation less than the style benchmark for the latest ten-year period. Informa then identifies the top 10 performers for the latest 10-year period as the “PSN Top Guns of the Decade.”

Past performance does not guarantee future results.

Investing involves risk, including the loss of principal. There is no guarantee that a particular investment strategy will be successful.

The Mid Cap Value Strategy seeks long-term capital appreciation by investing in mid-size companies as defined by the market capitalization range of the Russell Midcap Index. This focused portfolio seeks companies with strong underlying business franchises priced at a discount to their intrinsic worth that have temporarily fallen out of favor.

The Mid Cap Value Strategy invests in mid-sized companies on a value basis. Mid-sized securities generally are more volatile and less liquid than those of larger companies. Value investments are subject to the risk that their intrinsic value may not be recognized by the broad market.
